If I had the power

If I had the power
to change things
what would I change
the color of the sky
the way the birds fly
the sound of thunder
to change the
sun revolving
life evolving
wind revolving
waves pushing the one preceding.
Would I change my face
or my body
would I change my country
or my religion
would I be here or somewhere else
here I am the same
there I could be different
in another skin
like a sci-fi body snatcher.
Some say that no matter where you go
no matter if you change clothes, hairdo
or go naked
you are who you are
a prison on itself inside
a mind set that always carries
ancient ways
ancient fears
ancient desires.
To change is to discard
skin, soul, feelings
to let go what is considered sacred
what used to be ultimately necessary
things, objects, places, persons, possessions
to start fresh, to reinvent oneself
breaking the cocoon and display new wings
and let the convection air lift one’s mass
to heights never reached
to atmospheres never breathed
to sites never seen

to chills never felt…
